She lived each and every day with love, determination and zest. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her. When we 2 CONT were little, she devoted herself to taking care of Daddy, Tommy and I completely. She sewed, baked, cleaned and saved so that we all could have a better life one day. When she and Daddy bought the ranch, she worked along beside him to improve 2 CONT it. When Daddy started his construction business, again, she worked with him to make it prosperous. During all this time, she worked actively in her church, the community, the Eastern Star, the Order of the Rainbow Girls, and all school 2 CONT activities that Tommy and I were involved in. Just at the time, she could have sat back and relaxed, she was diagnosed with cancer of the breast. They did surgery and removed her breast on a Friday, the following Saturday she was released 2 CONT from the hospital and that night attended her high school class reunion and the next morning she went to church. When she was diagnosed with cancer again, she met the fight head on just as she had all of her life. Her courage was an 2 CONT inspiration to us all. She had spent her entire life giving to others and I know that at her funeral she looked down from heaven and knew that all was appreciated and how much she was loved. No one in life is perfect, but I would not have 2 CONT traded my mother for anything else on earth. She had the gift of life which she gave to us and all who knew her. I hope that Tommy, Whitney, Thomas, myself and all future generations have the strength of character and love that she had. With 2 CONT all my love, D'Auan. "Obituary appearing in the Mt. Fort Lewis was built at James Campbell's but 2 CONT this was not enough defense for the families--the murders continued. (p. 197, Kegley's VA. In 1760, they sold their plantation, on the edge of which 2 CONT stood Fort Lewis, to Alexander Boyd, Paymaster to the First Virginia Regiment. In 1768 after the Indian wars, the Campbells migrated to the waters of Cripple Creek, a branch of the New River, and again became important frontier settlers. James 2 CONT was a Captain in the militia under Col. Patton in the Indian Wars from 1754 to 1755. On May 17, 1756 he received a grant of 434 acres on N. Branch from Borden's executors. He increased his acreage by 98 acres from William Preston in 1755 and again in 1767 by 100 2 CONT acres from William Preston. In 1760 he was deeded 232 acres in the Forks of James and Wood for 160 pounds. He purchased 175 acres on the James River as late as May 10, 1760 for 30 pounds. In 1752, James was appointed by the Augusta Co., Court 2 CONT to appraise the estate of Joseph Robinson. His estate, appraised by Patrick Campbell, James Davis and William Hill amounted to 6893 pounds, 7 shillings, practically all of which was left to his daughter, Lettice Campbell, to whom he also gave his still and his 2 CONT negro, Jack.
