This is a medium sized GEDCOM concentrating on the family and ancestry of my maternal grandmother's mother, Frances Olean (Ethridge) Denson. She was born 27 Sep 1876 at Meridian, Lauderdale Co., MS to Solomon Mark Ethridge and his wife, Florence Pauline Davidson. Both parents were born in Dallas Co., AL and were also first cousins, his mother being her father's sister. Her Etheridge / Ethridge ancestors originated in Tottenham, Middlesex, England. Thomas Etheridge was the first of the family to settle in America, establishing the family first in Norfolk Co., VA. The Davidson / Davison family was an Ulster Scots family which settled in Pennsylvania. Later her ancestor, John Davison, Sr., followed a large contingent of Scots to York Co., SC where he established the family for several generations. Her first known Kuykendal ancestor was Jacob Luurszen, a native of Gelderland, who settled in New Netherlands in the mid-1600s. Major families included are Ethridge / Etheridge, Davidson / Davison, Broom, Copeland, Westphal, Kool and other early Dutch familes of New York. Of note is her first cousin, Mark Foster Ethridge, noted journalist of Louisville, KY.
