Will of George Hollingsworth
Probate Court, February Term 1837
For confirmation with the several documents therein reference to these words and figures, towit-"State of Indiana, Union County, in the Union Probate Court February Term 1837.-
Executee, William Talbert, Executor of the last Will & Testament of George Hollingsworth deceased, Petition for the Confirmation of the Grant of Letters Testementery etc. William Talbert Executor of the last Will & Testament of George Hollingsworth deceased petition for the confirmation of the grant to the Court that the said George Hollingsworth died at the County on the day of September 1836, leaving a last Will in and by virtue of which he constituted Jacob N Lloyd the executor of his said Will; that your petitioner appeared before the Court on the 11th day of October 1836 and proved said will, gave Bond in the penal(?) sum of one thousand dollars being liable(?) the amount of the value of the personal estate with John M. Hentencks as security conditioned as the law directs which will probate thereof are made a part of this petition and read in these following words and figures, towit.
"I George Hollingsworth of Union County State of Indiana, being weak in body at present, tho perfectly sound in mind and memory, do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament; hereby revoking all other, and dispose of my property both real and personal in the following manner towit
Item 1st. That all my just debt be duly and sensionabily paid by my Executors who are herein after named.
Item 2d. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Hepizibah Hollingsworth during the time of her remaining my widow the use and privilege of my house wherein I now live also as much use of the barn, stables and out houses as she had need of, together with the rents and profits of my farm So far as will secure to her a comfortable and sufficient support of everything, and if she should at anytime after my decease incline to move her residence for her to be furnished by my Executor and to take away and forever have for her own use and distribution all the remaining property she brought with her to my house also I give her one horse creature fit for use, one milck cow, my watch, large Bible, my little chemical still with all the apparatus therein belonging, and further provided she should at any time after my decease marry I privelege her to take away and have the property as above mentioned but that she relinquish all the profits of my farm and use of my tenements.
Item 3d. I give to my son Abram Hollingsworth one dollar which together with what he has had makes his full legacy.
Item 4th. I give to my son Joel Hollingsworth one dollar which together with what he has had makes his full legacy.
Item 5th. I give to my six daughters-Nancly Ruth Henderson, Rachel Dagans, Sarah Langston, Mahala Scurlock, Susannah Albernathy & Mary Spriggs, an equal proportion of the proceeds by public sale, of my personal estate, except such part thereof as is heretofor and hereafter otherwise disposed of together with any money Notes, due bill accounts etc. that my be terminating after the provision of my wife are fulfilled.
Item 6th. I give a bequeth to my son Enoch Hollingsworth, at the marriage or decease of my widow, all my real estate with the ______ thereto belonging, to have and forever to hold, also one waggon the largest one of the two one plough, one harrow, one pair(?) horse gear, one set Blacksmith tools, one half the stock of my sheep and the three horse creatures which are now called his together with the profit of my farm that is not necessary to the support of my widow as heretofore stated.
Item 7th. I give and bequeath to my boy Chester Hamilton one yearly colt which is now called his. Also I give him provided he stays with my widow in money, if he fulfill his Indenture, one hundred dollars to be paid by my Exe. Out of my personal Estate, when he arrives at the age of twenty one years.
And lastle I constitute and appoint Jacob Bloyd and William Talbert Exectors to this my last Will and Testament. In Testimony when I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this twelve day of the eighth month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six
